Spring gentian (Gentiana verna)

Gentiana verna or spring gentian belongs to the Gentianaceae family. It is a common sight in alpine meadows in Europe and in Asia. The colour can vary from bright purple to purplish red and rarely white. The whole plant is really small having only a few centimeters hight.
It is the country flower of Duhram in England.
There are a few superstitions associated with this beautiful flower and namely that it brings bad luck or even death when it is picked up.
