Amanita caesarea or commonly known as Caesar's mushroom (αυγά του Καίσαρα, ντουντουκέ, μιαλένια, αυγά) belongs to the Amanitaceae family which includes poisonous mushrooms, so one should be entirely sure before picking it up. This one is one of the tastiest mushrooms I ever eaten. It has been consumed since ancient times and valued by the Romans emperors and probably this how it took it's common name. It has an orange cap and in my opinion it looks like an egg when it first starts to grow. When it matures it has a lose ring and its base is seated in a white-pale yellow cup that looks like a volva. It is quiet often in autumn. I saw these two specimens in a forest near Arta.
